Windows Automatic Update, A Must! – Walkthrough
By ryan | July 8, 2007
There are a lot of tech people out there that do not like to have Windows Automatic Updates running because it takes up resources. Honestly, I think everyone should. It’s the most basic of security features you can have, AND because windows is targeted so often, why would you take the risk of forgetting to update and then later getting burned? Especially with how many updates there are. It kinda tells you something. Like, there are a lot of holes.
Do yourself a favor and turn it on. Windows Firewall too if you don’t already have some other firewall running. I’ll walk you through the steps just to make sure your not left empty handed.
First, click on the Start button on the taskbar. Then, navigate to the Control Panel
Next, Double Click on the Security Center icon.
Here is the Microsoft Windows Security Center. This window gives you an overview of all of the built in security features of Windows. If you click on the Automatic Updates link on the bottom, that is where you can turn it on and off.
Once you open up the window, just click on the Automatic option and your set!
